Federal Award Validates Amikoo, MuukLabs’ Agentic AI Solution for Modern QA Bottlenecks
RALEIGH, NC, Apr. 22, 2026 — MuukLabs, a leader in AI-driven software quality assurance, announced today it has been awarded a $499,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) SBIR Phase IIb Supplement. The funding will accelerate the development and market validation of Amikoo, MuukLabs’ newest agentic AI toolkit designed to eliminate the "testing bottleneck" that slows down modern software delivery.
The NSF (www.nsf.gov), an independent federal agency, supports research and development with high potential for commercial and societal impact. This Phase IIb award is particularly significant as it is reserved for companies that have demonstrated both technical excellence and strong commercial traction through external investment and revenue
The NSF Phase IIb supplement is not a standard grant; it requires recipients to demonstrate significant "matching" capital from private investors or customers. By securing this award, MuukLabs has cleared a high bar of both scientific merit and market viability.
“Securing the NSF Phase IIb supplement is a powerful market signal that extends far beyond federal validation,” said Iván Barajas Vargas, co-founder and CEO of MuukLabs. “Because this funding is contingent on external investment and revenue milestones, it serves as a dual endorsement: it confirms that our agentic AI technology, Amikoo, is both scientifically rigorous and commercially essential. This award accelerates our mission to eliminate the testing bottleneck for engineering teams worldwide, proving that the market is ready for a shift from traditional automation to autonomous QA."
As software deployment cycles shrink from months to minutes, traditional manual and automated testing often become the primary constraint. MuukLabs’ Amikoo uses agentic AI to prioritize, create, and maintain end-to-end tests autonomously. This "human-in-the-loop" model allows engineering teams to receive trustable, instantaneous feedback without the overhead of massive automation departments.
Supporting MuukLabs in this successful grant application was Eva Garland Consulting (EGC), a global leader in securing non-dilutive funding. EGC has helped clients manage over $2 billion in grants and contracts, providing the compliance and accounting expertise necessary to navigate high-level federal awards.
Founded in 2019 as a tech-enabled QA service, MuukLabs now provides an agentic AI-assisted toolkit that helps teams prioritize, create, automate, and maintain end-to-end tests. By combining cutting-edge AI with a human-in-the-loop model, MuukTest helps engineering teams achieve instantaneous, trustable feedback on software quality without the need for massive automation teams.
